Scholastic Book Fair 2010 was held October 20th - 25th. The book fair was held during conference week and it was wonderful to see so many families celebrating the efforts and goals of the students by finding a new book. We had a fun Family Night, with staff members Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Sabo, Mrs. Kilroy, Mr. Hutchison, and Mrs. Toresdahl taking time to read to our shoppers.
The fair was a huge success with about $5000 worth of books earned for the library. Without the book fair we wouldn't be able to buy many new books each year for our library. Most of the building budget allocated to the library pays for basic supplies, magazine subscriptions, and a few books. We really appreciate the hard work of all our parent volunteers and the generosity of the Blackwell community!
A special thank you to Jennifer Nodine, a new Blackwell parent, that stepped in and took on the role of book fair chairperson. She did a great job organizing volunteers, sending out flyers, hosting the teacher preview, helping with sales, setting-up, and tearing down the book fair. Thanks to the many families who bought books to donate to the library and classroom collections, through the "Wish List" program. Your generosity and kindness is greatly appreciated.
