Principal Anderson
Meet Mike Anderson, the principal at Blackwell.
My name is Mike Anderson, and I am proud to be the principal of Elizabeth Blackwell Elementary School. The students, staff and parents truly make this school a special place. I was raised in Shoreline, WA and attended the University of Washington. I taught 6th grade, middle school and high school for seven years in the Bainbridge Island and Edmonds School Districts. I became an Apple Education Sales Consultant for seven years during the early years of Macintosh. These were exciting times and our three children, Michael Jr., Kevin and Emily were growing up fast. My wife, La Conna, and I decided that it was time to travel less and have more family time. I received my M.A. in Education (Administration and Supervision) at Seattle Pacific University. This was the best decision we could have made. I became the principal at Lakeland Elementary in the Federal Way School District. Since then, I was a principal for 14 years in the Northshore School District at Maywood Elementary and Skyview Junior High. I have enjoyed each and every one of my educational experiences and I am happy to be the principal at Blackwell Elementary. This is my third year at Blackwell, and I love being a principal!

On a personal note, I live in Brier which is a small community on the hill just northwest of Lake Washington near all of my family. I spend my spare time hiking, biking and taking care of our granddaughter, Violet. I am a Seahawk, Mariner, Husky, and Cougar fan.

Blackwell is an exceptional school in which learning thrives. Our mission is for every student to be prepared for success in Middle School. Our vision is to be a community where we work together to help every student become the best they are capable of becoming. Together, we can make this happen!

I look forward to a great 2012-13 school year. If you ever have any questions or concerns please contact me at 425-936-2520 or at manderson@lwsd.org.
