I was born in Yakima, Washington, and moved to Kirkland in 1965 where I attended Central Elementary School (now the site of the Kirkland Police Station), Kirkland Junior High, and Lake Washington High School. I then moved to Bellevue in 1971 and graduated from Interlake High School in 1973. After an extended hiatus, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Seattle University in 1983 with a B.A. in education.
I was hired by the Lake Washington School District in 1984 to teach English at Evergreen Jr. High. I started teaching at BEST in 1993. I received my Masters Degree in Educational Technology from City University in 1995 and I am currently teaching English and team sports at BEST.
