Yes, the excitement that has built in your household has also been building throughout the halls of Audubon. We have been busy getting ready to welcome you all to the 2010-2011 school year.  The building is once again bursting with young voices, shiny faces and eager grins…but enough about the staff!   J

I am thrilled by the anticipation and energy that I hear among staff for a wonderful year ahead. We have lots of new faces on our school staff this year so we are embracing change and all the wonderful possibilities that this will bring. Please welcome these new folks:

JoAnn Heinz, Librarian                                   Rick Ritchie, Night Custodian

Kristen Hurst, Music Specialist                      Suzie Fiebig, Safety Net Teacher

Kali Riden, 2nd Grade Teacher                        Vanessa Banks, 6th Grade Teacher

Vicki Heal, Safety Net Teacher                      Tiffany Nygren, K-2 Learning Center Teacher

Our staff has worked hard to define our work for the year, prepare meaningful learning for students and to find new ways to increase levels of success for each. It is a joy to work with such a talented and dedicated group of people. I know that you realize how fortunate you are to have your children influenced by these skilled educators every day. I am proud to lead such a fine group of professionals.

The beginning of the school year brings a great deal of information that will come home to you. Some forms need to be completed and returned to our office; some information you will keep at home to use throughout the school year. In an effort to help you sort through this mountain of information, our ‘First Day Packets’ are designed to help you access the information when you need it. Once again our PTSA volunteers have outdone themselves to provide a well-organized, highly useful and informative packet. We have requested only information that is critical so please help us by quickly returning the required forms. Washington state law requires that all students must show proof of immunizations prior to being admitted to classes on the first day of school so please return this information quickly to insure a smooth transition back to school for your child. Students will not be allowed to attend without the appropriate documentation.

At Audubon we believe that the home and school partner to provide the greatest success for students and every child benefits from the time and energy of each of our volunteers. Our families donate countless hours and generous dollars that purchase learning enhancements for the classroom, essential safety equipment, and provide fun community events. I sure hope that each of you will consider joining PTSA and supporting the Audubon Learning Community by volunteering in some way during the school year. There are a variety of ways in which you can participate and contribute, benefitting not only your own children, but every Audubon child.

I hope to see each of you out and around school real soon – and especially at our Back to School BBQ on September 10th!  Thanks for being an important part of our wonderful Audubon Community!

Sincerely,

Karen Dickens

Principal
