Audubon is excited to offer a couple of singing opportunities for students this year. We will be offering two before-school choir enrichment programs. This will include Senior Choir for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, and a new choir this year, Jr. Choir, for 2nd and 3rd graders. Both opportunities are for all children who love to sing. Although auditions will not be held, a good standard of behavior and an academic attainment of at least a “3” in most subjects is expected and must be maintained by each individual in order to enter and remain in choir. In both choirs, a variety of styles of choral music will be explored and performed. A choir member can expect to learn much more about singing in a group than he or she learns in the general music classroom. Singing methods for choir, and reading music of many styles will be skills and experiences the choir member can expect. A special “feeling of pride and ”camaraderie” is a bonus!
Sr. Choir will begin sometime in October and we’ll take a couple of fieldtrips and perform the songs learned at assemblies for the school during the year. Jr. Choir will be for beginners and will start in the early Spring. They will also perform in assemblies for the school. Since this is an activity outside school hours, there will be a nominal cost for participating in these programs. Each choir will run 8-10 weeks and meet two times a week.
Look for a flyer for more information as we get closer to these appointed times.
