This is my third year as the Safety Net teacher at Audubon Elementary. Before that I was a Kindergarten teacher (half day and full day) at Audubon for 7 years. I have been very fortunate to get to know and work with so many of the children at Audubon and to have watched them as they have progressed from Kindergarten to 6th grade.
We moved from California Bay Area to Redmond in 1996. I taught 2nd grade and 4th grade there. At first I didn’t really like Washington, especially the weather. However after 12 years I find I am thinking of Washington as my home. I am married with two boys. One is 22 and at the University of Washington and one is 27 working in California as a computer engineer. They attended Emily Dickenson Elementary, International Community Middle School/ High School and Eastlake High School. We were very impressed with the Lake Washington School District.
I love hiking, horseback riding, traveling and reading. One year I taught summer school in China. This summer we went to Thailand. I especially enjoy experiencing new cultures and meeting new friends around the world.
Safety Net is an interesting job and very rewarding. The parents at Audubon are very interested in their children’s learning which is such a benefit. The children are wonderful! I look forward to another great year.
