First Move Chess Program

The First Move Program was developed by America's Foundation for Chess and uses the game of chess in second and third grade classrooms as a learning tool to teach higher level thinking skills, advanced math and reading skills, and to build self-esteem.

This program is facilitated in Rose Hill Elementary's second and third grade classrooms by the classroom teacher during the course of the school day.  It is funded in part by PTSA monies and in part by a grant from America's Foundation for Chess.
