All students at Rose Hill receive music instruction two times per week with the exception of the ½ day Kindergarteners who have music once a week.  Students in all grades will be listening, singing, and moving to music.  They will also have opportunities to play rhythm instruments and Orff barred instruments.  Students in grades 3 through 5 will be playing the Baroque Soprano Recorder in class this spring.  Rose Hill has recorders to lend to students but it is great when students have their own instruments to bring to class.  Students will earn grades in music based on their effort in music class. 

All students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are invited to participate in Choir.  This year, choir rehearsals will begin September 19th and conclude with a party on Dec. 5th.  Rehearsals are every Wednesday morning before school, 7:45-8:20 AM, in the Music Room.  The Rose Hill Choir will sing for the 3rd grade Veteran’s Day Program on Thursday, November 8th and the Lake Washington Learning Community Concert on Wednesday, November 28th. The LWLC Concert is an exciting evening of choral music sung by elementary, junior high and high school choirs from our region.  Third, Fourth and Fifth graders can find the form on the reverse side of this letter to sign up for choir. If a student has a band or orchestra conflict with choir and would like to join, contact Mrs. Hanson by phone or at suhanson@lwsd.org to learn about recess choir.

In September, students in grades 4 and 5 are invited to join the before school Orchestra and Band programs at Rose Hill Middle School.  Orchestra classes are taught by Janet Miller.  Band classes are taught by Angie Laulainen.  If you did not receive a letter regarding these programs, information is available on the Rose Hill MS Music Department website.
