Neighborhood Schoolhouse

16800 NE 80th St, Redmond, WA 98052 ... 425.936.2663 .... aramirez@lwsd.org

Neighborhood Schoolhouse is a community learning center and family support center at Redmond Elementary School.  We are encouraging kids to learn and grown through hands on experiences. We promote activities to keep kids engaged and healthy after school.  Each day participants will learn new skills, make friends, and stay safe while participating in a variety of education and sports-oriented classes.  We are helping kids become stronger learners and we are dedicated to supporting  families.

NSH originated as a “Breaking the Boundaries” project in 1994 by the City of Redmond and was funded for one year by a United Way grant.  Presently, NSH is funded by the collaborative effort of the City of Redmond, Lake Washington School District, Microsoft Real Estate Division,  and  community grants.  The YMCA of Greater Seattle acts as the fiscal agent and administrator. Approximately 160 children participate weekly in the NSH after school programs.

NSH classes and activities are scheduled to follow the Lake Washington School District calendar.  On school holidays NSH will be closed.

Registration Process

NSH classes are open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. Class size is limited so that each student will receive individual attention. Many of our classes fill quickly. You may mail your registrations to our office; drop them off at Redmond Elementary School, room 124 or register in person. All after school classes require pre-registration. All fees are payable to NSH/YMCA.

Reduced Tuition Scholarships

Partial tuition scholarships are offered to low-income families who would otherwise not be able to participate. Full tuition scholarships are offered to children whose families are unable to afford the reduced tuition amount. A family is eligible for a full scholarship if they answer yes to any of the following questions:

1. Do you qualify for free/reduced lunch program?

2. Do you have a Public Assistance Medical Card?

3. Are you a single parent who is unemployed?

To request a partial or full scholarship for your child or family, please contact the Neighborhood Schoolhouse Coordinator at 425-936-2663 no later than one week before the class begins.
All scholarship requests are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

Scholarship awards are limited to one (1) class per child per quarter. If we are unable to meet your scholarship request, we will notify you by phone or e-mail.

Transportation

Transportation at no cost to students from Rockwell and Horace Mann Elementary Schools who sign up for classes offered immediately after school at Redmond Elementary. This service is provided on a limited, first–come, first serve basis.
Transportation will be provided on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Parents are responsible for transportation home after the classes. If you need transportation, please indicate this on your registration form and call (425)936-2663 to confirm your spot.
