I am Linda Gahnberg and have been a kindergarten teacher at Lakeview for the past seven years. It does not seem like that long ago, as I love coming to work each day and working with your children. The changes and growth that each one experiences during the course of their first school year is remarkable. You will be absolutely amazed. My teaching philosophy is to provide a structured environment where your children can mature, grow, learn needed skills, learn social skills, and love coming to school.
I was born in Bellingham, and have a brother and sister who still live there. I moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington, where I met my future husband. After college, I taught elementary kids in the Seattle for two years before taking a hiatus to raise our twin daughters. When they reached third grade, I re-entered the classroom as a teaching assistant in second grade and kindergarten at Mark Twain Elementary. After seven years at Twain, I moved to Lakeview Elementary and have been here and loving it ever since.
When I am not at school, I love to be in the sun, work in my garden, and take our nine-year old golden retriever, Buddy, for walks. On Saturday afternoons in the fall you will find my husband and I in the stands at Husky stadium cheering the Purple and Gold to victory… we hope…(Go Dawgs!). We enjoy spending time at the family cabin in Seabeck, on Hood Canal, going for rides in the boat, walking on the beach and collecting agates, and getting fresh dungeness crab when they are in season. We also love to travel, and have been to China, France, Italy, in past years. We recently did a road trip to the Midwest and saw Glacier National Park, the Black Hills, the Badlands…and Omaha, Nebraska where my mom was born and raised.
Now you know a little about me. I look forward to meeting, getting to know, and working with each of you this year to help your child get the most out of their first year at Lakeview Elementary.
