I am starting my 24th year of teaching. The first seven years I taught children with special needs, then kindergarten for six years, third grade for five years and am now teaching fourth grade for the sixth year and enjoying it immensely. Mrs. Adams and I have been job sharing since 1999. This is my fourteenth year at Lakeview.
On to the family - I live in Kirkland with my husband, Jerry, daughter Erin (19) and son Riley (16). Erin starts her second year of college abroad in Cadiz, Spain through a University of Washington program. Riley will be a sophomore at Lake Washington High - Go Kangs! As a family we enjoy traveling, reading, running, bicycling, exploring the NW, visiting our extended family, having Grammy over for Sunday night dinner, watching movies and documentaries and especially sitting around talking.
When I am not working, I spend much of my time doing the parent thing similar to all of you Lakeview parents. Now that's self explanatory! Although it should be a little easier this coming year with only one child at home. Coffee with my sister Cindy and also with my friends is a favorite pastime!
As a little girl growing up in a small town, I never thought I would live in such a vibrant, suburban city, have opportunities to travel the world (March 2008 Jerry, the kids and I traveled to our sixth continent!) and teach in such a wonderful community filled with wonderful people.
