Huskies and Cougars beware - there is a Duck about in the halls of Lakeview! I am in my second year of teaching fourth grade, and despite some college rivalry, am feeling very much at home in this school. I strive to provide a classroom environment that is challenging and that nurtures critical thinking skills. I also work to integrate technology into the curriculum whenever possible, so as to better prepare students for a future that is evolving at an exponential rate.
Prior to becoming a Leopard, I lived in Oregon. Growing up in Corvallis, I loved being involved in my school’s community. During high school, I spent many late nights in the school’s computer lab as the editor of the newspaper. In spring, I could also be found tracking down balls on the tennis court for the varsity tennis team.
It was during my senior year of high school that I enrolled in a cadet teaching program. I worked in a third grade classroom, and fell in love with the profession. When I began at the University of Oregon, I knew exactly what I was working toward. I am now enjoying the fruits of my labor as a teacher at Lakeview.
When not spending late hours in my classroom, I am always sure to keep busy. I love to take off on foot and explore the nooks and crannies of Seattle, where I live. I also love outdoor adventure, and go backpacking and hiking with my boyfriend as much as possible. When I need to wind down, I love nothing more than sitting in a local coffee shop and reading a quality piece of literature.
