I grew up in Alaska and spent my middle school and high school years in Northeast Seattle. My parents moved back to Alaska after I graduated from high school, and I headed south to Tacoma for four years at Pacific Lutheran University. I spent a semester in Norway and have a degree in Norwegian, as well Education. I also have a Masters in Teaching I earned in 2003.
I started my teaching career in Tacoma with the Franklin Pierce School District in 1998. In 2001, after I got engaged, I moved to Kirkland and have been teaching fourth grade at Peter Kirk ever since! My son was born in January 2008 and I now enjoy a job share position with Carrie Webster, working half time. My husband is a firefighter for Redmond Fire and together we are able to be home to care for Esten almost full time. What a joy!
I have the best of both worlds, being home to watch my son grow and learn and being at a terrific school and doing the work I love most. Teaching is an amazing job, I love spending my day creating learners and active participants in our world.
