Miss Martinez first became interested in teaching when she was a cross-age tutor in fifth grade. Because she attended a year-round school, she was able to volunteer in a second grade classroom for two years with the same teacher, Mrs. Jackson. In high school she enrolled in Running Start and began taking college classes where she learned about child development and psychology. When she turned 18, she enrolled at The Evergreen State College in Olympia and two years later earned her bachelor of arts degree. After Evergreen, she attended Antioch University Seattle, where she earned her master's degree in education. Miss Martinez is in her third year of teaching fourth grade at Helen Keller Elementary, and loves it!
