Meet Our Principal

Dear Frost parents, students, and friends:

I am honored and excited to become the new principal of Robert Frost Elementary. Frost Elementary has an excellent reputation in the Lake Washington School District as a school with strong instructional programs, caring and talented staff, and a supportive parent community. Over the coming months I look forward to learning more about the Robert Frost community and I would like to take this opportunity to provide a little information about myself both professionally and personally.

My career in education has been varied and diverse. I come from a family of teachers, and I started my career working with elementary students as a children’s counselor. I began teaching in 1993, and have taught 2nd, 5th, and 6th grade in both Kirkland and Northern California. I also spent two years teaching English in Taiwan to both children and adults. I taught for many years here in the Lake Washington School District at John Muir Elementary school before moving from the classroom to the district level as a professional developer, providing training programs for teachers and staff. Since then I have served as principal at both Carl Sandburg Elementary in Lake Washington and at Jefferson Elementary in the Everett Public Schools. For the past three years I have served as the LWSD Technology Integration Coordinator, working with schools and teachers to effectively use technology to support instruction and student learning.

As hard as it may be for some of my students to believe, a principal really does have a life outside of school. I have two children, ages 5 and 8, so my home is pretty active! When I’m not working with schools, I can often be found riding my bicycle on the Burke Gilman trail, riding my motorcycle through the twisty back roads, or just reading books and spending time at the park with my kids.

For my entire career I have worked to meet the changing needs of young people, and I bring that passion and commitment to Frost Elementary. School should be a place where children feel happy and engaged, and where parents feel welcome and involved, and it is my goal to ensure that Frost is no different. I look forward to the new school year and the chance to work with a great community to help our children reach their highest potential.

Sincerely,

Toby Brenner
