  • Approximately 70 students in three combined classrooms: 1st/2nd grade, 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade for the 2011-2012 school year.
  • Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, the grade configuration will be (numbers are approximate):
    • Mrs. O’Malley's class: fourteen 1st graders and eight 2nd graders.
    • Ms. Shaw's class: eight 2nd graders and fourteen 3rd graders. 
    • Mr. Leviten's class: fourteen 4th graders and fourteen 5th graders
  • These classrooms have the same student-teacher ratio as other classes in the Lake Washington School District.
  • School opens at 8:40 a.m. and starts at 8:45 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Thursdays, school opens at 8:55 am and class begins at 9 a.m.
  • School dismisses at 3:15 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, dismissal is at 12:50 p.m. Half-day dismissal is 11:45 a.m.
  • Explorer Community School parents are responsible for transportation to and from school. Carpooling is encouraged. Students who live within the Dickinson Elementary boundary may take the bus to and from school.
  • Parent participation is required. This includes three weekly hours of direct classroom support, committee work and attending monthly parent association meetings.
