College Entrance Tests
Most colleges require applicants to take a college entrance test.  The test results are used by the colleges to determine college readiness as part of the application process. 
 
 
 

 SAT and ACT

 

General Information

  • Eastlake HS School Code:480548
  • Most colleges and universities will accept scores from either the SAT or the ACT.
  • Colleges vary in their test requirements so the applicant must check with each college for specific information.
  • Check with www.fairtest.org to see the colleges that do not require college entrance tests.
  • It is recommended that students take the tests in the spring of their junior year.

SAT and ACT Compared 

SAT

  • Reasoning skills test
  • Content:  Measures skills in three academic areas - Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing
  • Scores:  Range from 200 - 800 on each of the three areas tested.  2400 is the highest possible combined score.

ACT

  • Academic achievement test
  • Content:  English, Mathematics, Reading, Science Reasoning, Writing (Optional)
  • Scores:  Range from 1-36 on each of the areas tested.  36 is the highest possible composite score.
