Birthday Book Club
The Elizabeth Blackwell Birthday Book Club provides a lasting way to celebrate your child’s birthday, or any special occasion, by donating a new book to our school library.
 

By donating a book through the birthday club, you will support our library with a book chosen from a specially compiled wish-list and will provide your child with an opportunity to give the gift of reading to our school community in celebration of his/her birthday.  

If you decide to participate, your “gift” book will have a label placed on the inside front jacket stating that it was donated to the Blackwell Library in honor of your child.  Your contribution will also be acknowledged in the Bobcat Beat.

 

  • Prior to your child’s birthday month, visit the Blackwell Library webpage and look at the “Library Wish List” linked here! Please know that your child does not have to wait until his/her birthday to join the Birthday Book Club.  You can purchase a book any time during the school year.  Summer birthdays can be celebrated in the Fall, at half-birthday, or in June.
  • Please purchase books only on the approved wish-list as these have been specially considered to best enhance our school library collection.  Each book should be new and hardbound so that it will hold up to constant use.  If you would like to purchase something not on the list please contact your child’s library teacher.
  • Once you and your child have purchased a book, simply bring the book into the library and drop it off, along with the form below. 
  • Each book will have a special bookplate placed inside the front cover.  The book will be shared with your child’s class during their library time; they will be the first to have the opportunity to check the book out before it is put on the shelves for circulation.
