Kellen Rice Book Collection

Kellen Rice

Kellen Rice Book Collection

The Kellen Rice Book Collection has been created in memory of Kellen Rice, a student of A.G. Bell.    He was an active boy who loved swinging, trucks and stories in books.  As he grew his interests grew and soon included a love for bugs, frogs, and reptiles.  He rode his bike, tried to ski and skateboard, and when he could, played in the snow.  Kellen liked stories about all these things.  When Kellen entered A.G. Bell, he began to play soccer and baseball and was busy and happy.  He learned to read and loved books.  He was in the 2nd grade when doctors learned that there was a tumor at the base of his brain.  His family and doctors tried everything they knew to stop the tumor, but they couldn’t.  On September 24, 2000 Kellen died.  His family decided to bring some of the books he loved to the A.G. Bell library.    It is the hope of his family that new books will be added and shared with the children of A.G. Bell.  Books in the Kellen Rice Book Collection are indicated with the STAR on the spine.  For donations to this book collection, please contact Julie Hembree, librarian at A.G. Bell, for suggestions.  You may email her at jhembree@lwsd.org.
