Amy Jo Root

- RN: Bellevue Community College
This is Ms. Root's second year as Bell's school nurse. She is also the school nurse for Peter Kirk Elementary, Environmental (EAS), Kirkland Junior High and Finn Hill Junior High. She finds Bell a wonderful school with an extremely caring and supportive staff. The teachers are very dedicated and the Administration is very supportive. There is a very strong sense of “family” - it’s a very friendly and fun atmosphere to be in.
Ms. Root moved around the country a lot growing up since her dad was in the Air Force. They lived in Utah, Ohio, Washington, Illinois, New Mexico and then returned back to Washington. Her favorite places were Washington and New Mexico. She went to Kindergarten in the LWSD then moved away returning to the LWSD in seventh grade and attended Junior and Senior High here. She loved her third grade teacher, Mrs. Hake who encouraged her to try new things. Ms. Root was very shy and Mrs. Hake encouraged her to be in the school play. That experience really helped her come out of her shell and she had a lot of fun doing it.
Ms. Root has lived in the Bothell area for the past 10 years, and the Redmond area for 15 years prior to that. Her 5 ½ year old daughter attends kindergarten in our district and of course is her ray of sunshine! In addition to spending time playing and being active with her daughter, she enjoys gardening, skiing, painting pottery, and traveling.
She feels very lucky to have an older sister as a role model. When they get together they laugh until their sides hurt! She is an exceptional person. She has always thought of her as her hero and couldn’t have picked a better person to grow up with!
