Created especially for young children, Sign Language Fun classes keep both the child and adult in mind while taking the difficulty out of learning a new language!
We will have fun learning this new language through art, stories, music and games. All classes are taught by members of the Deaf community, providing both an educational and cultural experience.
Sign Language Fun classes are recommended for children in grades K – 6.
Parents are encouraged to attend the lessons, but are not required. There are so many benefits to signing with hearing children, here are a few:
- Fingerspelling helps make memory connection with the sounds and letters of the alphabet.
- Sign language is fun and self-esteem grows when children realize they can speak with their hands.
- Gives children with special needs the chance to interact meaningfully with typically developing children.
- Builds the foundation for a second language.
- Promotes literacy.
