ACT Club
Alcott's Choir and Theatre Club for 6th Graders led by Mrs. Pappas

  Current ACT Club News

The first meeting of the ACT Club was on October 13th from 12:50 – 1:45 with 38 students!  We are very excited to hear ourselves sing – what a great group of singers.  We took care of some business, and then were told about our plan for this year:  Those students who came prepared with a folder and a pencil at our second rehearsal were complimented.  All students need to have a folder marked with their name, class and ACT CLUB on the front.  They also need to have a pencil tucked inside the folder.  Our music and musical scripts will be always kept in the folders and treated as if they are library books - they should not write on them except for in pencil.  Students are allowed two unexcused absences, including homework that needs done. Academics come before choice clubs and we support classroom teachers with that policy.

ACT Club is our Alcott Choir and Theatre Club.   We learn to sing as a choir, learning vocal production techniques and how to sing in parts.  There will be two or three performances in the winter as a choir.  After the holidays we begin to produce a musical to be performed in the spring – to be announced soon.

Remember to keep singing in the rain!

ACT Club Info

ACT Club is open to students in the 6th grade.  If your children wish to apply for this group, they will need to fill out and cut the application from the newsletter and bring the application form to Ms. Pappas PERSONALLY, handing it to her in person.  This procedure is designed to keep from having lost applications and a group number in excess of 50 students!

ACT Club is our Alcott Choir and Theatre Club.   This group is free to students thanks to the generosity of the Alcott PTSA.  We learn to sing as a choir, learning vocal production techniques and how to sing in parts.  There will be two or three performances in the winter as a choir and may require two evenings.  After the holidays we begin to produce a musical to be performed in the spring.  Students are asked to rehearse during one lunch and recess per week, each Thursday from 12:50 pm – 1:45 pm.  Some evening rehearsals toward the performance of the musical will be required, and may not be missed.  There will not be many of these rehearsals, possibly four or five but they are crucial to the performance of our musical.  Please do not sign up your child for ACT Club if their priority will be sports in the spring and your coach is not understanding of these required rehearsals.  This group will be limited to 35-40 students so that all the members may have a chance to shine in the musical!

If your student is interested in joining the ACT Club, they must bring the form below in to me in person as soon as possible during the week of September 28 to October 2.  I would like no more than 35 students to join this group, so every student has a chance to shine.  Registrations will be numbered in the order they are turned in, and will not be accepted if not handed to Ms. Pappas IN PERSON.  Thank you very much!
