Dear Parents,

Each year, the Lake Washington School District invites all parents to take a survey on how the district is doing in different areas. It covers the instructional program, facilities, technology, communication, and more. This information is used by the district to help improve its work to serve your students. Please take a moment to take the survey. To take the survey on the Internet, you can simply click on this link. If you would prefer, paper copies of the survey are available from our RHJH office starting this Tuesday afternoon: please return the survey to your school office or mail it to: Communications Office, Lake Washington School District, PO Box 97039, Redmond, WA, 98073-9739. Please take the survey by March 20 to be included in this year’s information.

On another note, WASL testing for 9th graders begin this week.  I have every confidence in our 9th grade students that they will do their very best.  We have had enough snack donations for students to have a snack on one day of testing this week.  Please consider donating a box of granola bars from Costco or another store to the school office – our 9th grade students are working very hard on the state tests and this is a small way of letting them know that we appreciate their efforts.  We would also like to offer a healthy snack to our 7th and 8th graders in April for their WASL testing.  Thank you to those of you who have already donated.

RHJH Musical Congratulations to the staff and crew for their outstanding performances in The Adventures of the Marquis du Carabas.  Special thanks go to our PTSA and our parent volunteers, whose passion for drama allow our students to shine each year.

PTSA Nominating Committee - If you or someone you know is interested in serving on the PTSA's nominating committee for next year's RHJH PTSA board, please contact Liz Clinton at makbethnkc@aol.com.  Or, if you are interested in being a part of the PTSA board for next year, please contact Liz Clinton.  It's a fun and easy way to be involved at the junior high and we welcome anyone who would like to participate.  Thanks!

Expanding Your Horizons Conference - Expanding Your Horizons, a math and science conference for girls in grades 6-8, is being held this year on March 29 at Bellevue Community College.  Brochures are available at school and online at http://eyh.psctlt.org/

Special thanksSpecial thanks to our PTSA who have given our school over $1000 this year (from Pass the Hat donations) in grants.  One grant was for the library to purchase the  Encyclopedia of the Revolutionary War. It is five volumes and very nicely set-up with indexes in each volume.  It has illustrations, maps and charts.  Volume 5 has all documents.  These documents are very important because the Social Studies classroom assessments required by the State of Washington are requiring Primary sources and documents fit into the primary source definition.  Thank you to all parents who donated to the PTSA “Pass the Hat” fundraiser during our October Open House.

Have a great week!
