Mr. Malloy, principal at LWHS, will be here to provide information, and I will be sharing expectations from our 9th grade Academic Team. Please put the date on your calendar. You may contact Mr. Ellis, jellis@lwsd.org, for more information. WASL Testing Snacks Needed - We will need approximately 3,090 snacks for students in all grades for a snack during the 6 days of WASL testing in March or April. Having a snack during testing really helps our students know that we care about them and want them to do well. You may bring in donated snacks to the main office through next Thursday, March 6th. RHJH Musical - The Rose Hill Jr. High PTSA and the Bellevue Children's Theatre present the exciting new musical, The Adventures of the Marquis du Carabas. Join us on March 6th, 7th & 8th for this classic fairy tale of Puss 'n Boots with a french twist! A play that appeals to audiences of all ages. Use the ticket flier attached with this email to order your tickets in advance. Save the date – March 7th - Acropolis Pizza in Kirkland is sponsoring a Rose Hill Junior High Day on Friday, March 7th. For every order accompanied by a Rose Hill flyer, Acropolis will give back 20% of the order amount to Rose Hill’s ASB fund. (Alcohol does not count toward the proceeds.) Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the deal applies for dine-in or take-out. More information in next week’s parent bulletin. Questions? You may contact Mrs. Sierer, bsierer@lwsd.org, for more information. PTSA Nominating Committee - If you or someone you know is interested in serving on the PTSA's nominating committee for next year's RHJH PTSA board, please contact Liz Clinton at makbethnkc@aol.com. Or, if you are interested in being a part of the PTSA board for next year, please contact Liz Clinton. It's a fun and easy way to be involved at the junior high and we welcome anyone who would like to participate. Thanks! Expanding Your Horizons Conference - Expanding Your Horizons, a math and science conference for girls in grades 6-8, is being held this year on March 29 at Bellevue Community College. Brochures are available at school and online at http://eyh.psctlt.org/. Peer Tutors Available – If your student struggles with a particular subject, needs help studying for tests, or could use some assistance with organization, then a peer tutor could be helpful. Please see the attached brochure and if you and your student are interested in signing up for a peer tutor, return the tutor request form to Mrs. Bowser. If you have any questions contact Mrs. Bowser at ebowser@lwsd.org or 425-881-2079.
Rock School - Rock School is a local non profit music program with after school classes in Kirkland, Maple Valley and Seattle. They also offer summer camps in Redmond and Seattle. For more information, please see the attached letter.
School Year Extended due to Snow Day - Our district calendar notes, “School year may be extended due to inclement weather.” And in fact, due to the winter weather that closed our schools on January 28, the school year will be extended by one day. That will make the official last day of school for students June 18. June 17 will now be a full school day and June 18 will be a half day of school. Questions? Please contact Mr. Ellis, jellis@lwsd.org.
Have a great week!
