Spring Pictures - The spring pictures will be handed out to the students today during their L.A. classes. The deadline for returning the packages, money or a combination of pictures and money will be April 25th. If you have questions please contact Mrs. Cimburek at jcimburek@lwsd.org or call (425)881-2079.
Student Check-out - Please remember to have your child sign out at the attendance window if you take them from the school campus for any length of time. It is very important that we know where students are at all times during the school day. If you have questions about our check-out procedure, you may contact Mrs. Cimburek, jcimburek@lwsd.org.
RHJH Discipline Survey - Our staff has voted to move forward in looking at modifying our discipline system at Rose Hill Junior High for the 2008-2009 school year. We are gathering data from staff, students, and parents, which will help us tailor our discipline system to better meet our Rose Hill Junior community needs. Please take a few moments to fill out and return the survey to our student office tomorrow, Wednesday, April 16th. Thank you for your input. If you have questions about our Discipline Committee, or about any LWSD discipline policies, you may contact Mrs. Bowser, ebowser@lwsd.org, or Mr. Ellis, jellis@lwsd.org.
Traffic Patterns - I want to remind all parents who drop off or pick up students from school that our drop off and pick up area is in our parking lot. It is not ok to drop off students along 134th street or to make u-turns after dropping off students along 75th street. I do not want to see you receive a police citation for unlawful behavior. It is also important to model correct behaviors for our students (who in a few years will be young drivers). You may contact me at jellis@lwsd.org for information or concerns regarding our traffic patterns.
Level II Sex Offender Notice – I have attached a letter from the Kirkland Police Department regarding a Level II Sex Offender moving into the Rose Hill Elementary neighborhood. If you live in this neighborhood, please talk with your student and attend the informational meeting on Thursday, April 17th, 7:00 pm at Rose Hill Elementary with the Kirkland Police Department.
New Tardy Drill – With summer heading our way we have noticed the students losing their focus, especially in getting to class on time. In an attempt to alleviate this behavior, we will be implementing a new tardy prevention program. The program will work as follows: The staff will decide on a period during the day when teachers will lock their doors after the five minutes given for the passing period. The students who are not inside the classroom will be gathered up and given a consequence of one after-school detention (45 minutes), and a phone call home. Announcements will be made daily for a week to inform students of the new program. We appreciate your support in getting students to class on time. If you have questions about this new tardy drill, you may contact Mrs. Bowser, Assistant Principal, ebowser@lwsd.org.

Staff members diligently answer emails within two school days.

Plea for Pictures There will be a lot of activities for our 9th graders as our last quarter commences at RHJH. One of those activities is a ‘Moving Up’ ceremony celebrating and remembering our students’ time here at Rose Hill. Part of that ceremony is a Slide Show of Memories. We would like this to highlight all 9th graders so if you, or your student, would forward your top 5 photos to us we can incorporate them into the presentation. Some photos we’d like to see are: >Sports (any team or individual sports) >Events (school dances, parties, Halloween, socials) >Activities (band, orchestra, choir, theater, clubs, etc.) >Friends (any group shots of friends) You can send in actual photos with ‘slide show’ on the envelope, or we can accept .jpg files at: Due Date: April 18th, 2008 If you have any questions please contact: Janet Irving janetirving@comcast.net Shelly Fanning ShellyLFanning@hotmail.com
