Review Required HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Lessons for Grades 5-12

Possible materials for adoption on display at Resource Center May 29 - June 16

Redmond, Wash. – Lake Washington School District invites the public to review and comment on HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Lessons being considered for grades 5-12. These materials are being considered for adoption. If approved by the district’s Board of Directors, the materials will be available for use in the 2017-18 school year. The lessons being recommended are:

  • KNOW HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Lessons developed by Washington State’s Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) for grades 5-8
  • Family Life and Sexual Health Education Lessons developed by King County Public Health for grades 9-12

Lake Washington curriculum review committees evaluated curricula and narrowed finalist choices. The district’s Instructional Materials Committee is also reviewing the committee recommendations.

Materials will be on display at the Lake Washington School District Resource Center (16250 NE 74th Street, Redmond, WA 98052) from May 29 - June 16. There is an opportunity to give written feedback.
