High School Equivalency Certificate

File: IKFC

The superintendent shall develop regulations and procedures by which individuals, 16 years of age and under 19 years of age who possess substantial and warranted reasons for leaving the regular high school program, may apply to take a test in order to obtain the High School Equivalency Certificate from the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.

The High School Equivalency Certificate does not replace the high school diploma, and it does not reflect completion of the usual course of sequential studies. The issuance of the High School Equivalency Certificate does not preclude an individual returning to high school to obtain a regular diploma.
