First Aid/Accident Reports

File: EBBA/EBBB

In case of an accident or sudden illness requiring medical attention, the school has the responsibility of notifying the parents or guardians. In the event they cannot be reached, the appropriate physician listed by the parents or guardians may be called, or if the doctor cannot be found, any physician readily available. In addition, the school may have the responsibility of transporting the child should the need arise and the physician deem it safe. In situations which appear especially hazardous, the local aid car may be called.

Teachers are required to report all accidents to principal's office and to fill out an accident form.

Under no circumstance should an ill child ever be taken home unless a parent or guardian is there or, as specified on the enrollment card, a neighbor is home to assume full responsibility.

First aid kits are provided in buildings for use in instances of minor accidents. Directions for use are provided in the Procedures for Illness and Emergencies in School.
