Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is a high-performing public school district in Kirkland, Redmond, and Sammamish, Washington


Five elected school board members represent the district. This group sets major policies, hire the superintendent, determine major goals for the district, and hold the superintendent and staff accountable for reaching those goals. The superintendent manages the staff, which is charged with carrying out his or her goals for the district. Dr. Traci Pierce became the chief executive officer for the district on July 1, 2012.
The district’s vision, mission, and guiding principles to create the learning environments necessary for students to learn successfully, as well as the knowledge, skills, and attributes every student needs to be future ready.

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is located between Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, to the east of Seattle. Covering 76 square miles, LWSD is the public school district for the cities of Kirkland and Redmond, as well as about half of Sammamish. On the north end of the district, some Bothell and Woodinville residents also attend our schools. The district map shows school locations and boundaries.
