Since Stella Schola is a choice school, students can choose to participate in sports programs at their home junior high or at Rose Hill Junior.

Stella Schola 7th and 8th graders may participate in all school sponsored after school sports either at their local neighborhood school or (i.e. Redmond Junior High, Kamiakin Junior High, Evergreen Junior High, Kirkland Junior High, etc) on the Rose Hill Junior High campus provided they have purchased an ASB sticker for their Stella Schola ID card.  ID cards are provided free of charge by Stella Schola Middle School.  An ASB sticker is purchased at the school where the student wishes to play sports for that quarter. Sticker prices vary from school to school, but they tend to run about $15.00.

The student and parent/guardian must both read, sign, and return a Lake Washington School District Junior High Athletic Policy form which will be enclosed in the summer packet.  If you do not receive one in your mailing, it can be obtained from the Stella Schola Office.

A parent must fill out and provide the required signatures on the sports clearance card.  This two-sided card contains the parent permission signature section, the physical examination data to be completed by a doctor, verification of insurance and the medical emergency authorization sections.  Each of the aforementioned parts must be completed and signed by the parents/guardians:

1. The Physical Examination clearance must be completed by a physician or appropriate licensed authority.  Any physicals signed after June 2005 are valid for two calendar years from the date of signing.  If you have questions, please check with the school.

2. The signed Verification of Insurance Coverage section demonstrates that the student is adequately covered by personal accident insurance.  Accident insurance may be purchased if the student is not covered by your personal insurance.  You may obtain this information from the Stella Schola office.

3. The Medical Emergency Authorization section also requires a signature and date.

4. The Emergency Contacts section must be completed.

Students will not be allowed to play unless the above information is completed.  Any student involved in interscholastic sports must purchase an ASB sticker and be responsible for the Pay for Participation fee as outlined in the Athletic Handbook.  Also, any outstanding fines must be paid before a student can participate in athletics.

Athletes must maintain a 2.0 GPA or better in all classes to participate on a school athletic team.  Students have five school days to improve any grade that falls below a “D”.  If the grade is not raised, the student will not be allowed to participate until the grade has been raised.
