Meet Our Principal, Sandy Klein
A letter from the principal

Welcome to Margaret Mead Elementary! Mead is a wonderful school community comprised of great teachers, wonderful students and a supportive and active parent community.  Having just completed my first year as the principal at Mead, I am inspired and encouraged by the teaching and learning that happens every day at Mead.  Our students not only have a wonderful educational opportunity, but they also live in a community that supports and encourages their growth and development.  I have lived in Sammamish for more than 20 years.  My husband and I have successfully raised two sons in Sammamish (at McAuliffe, Inglewood and Eastlake).   In the 2011-12 school year, we'll have two seniors - one at the UW (GO HUSKIES!) and one at Eastlake (GO WOLVES!).  We also have reached the milestone of having two adult children as they turn 21 and 18 this summer.  I know what it is to raise children in our community and I bring that experience to my work as an administrator.  I have been an educator for more than 25 years.  I began my career as a special education resource room teacher.  I moved from there to ten years of educational leadership as a credentialed pastor to families and children in a large church.  In 2009, I returned to the UW and earned my administrative certificate.  I am proud to provide administrative and instructional leadership at Margaret Mead Elementary.  The staff and I are passionate about providing our students with the tools they'll need to be successful in middle school, in high school and into adult life.  Go Mustangs!
