Running Start

Running Start allows eleventh and twelfth grade students to take college-level courses, tuition-free, at the state's community colleges.  Most students at Eastlake who participate in the Running Start program either attend Bellevue Community College or Cascadia Community College.  The application process begins in the early spring for the upcoming school year, and students must strictly adhere to the college deadlines in order to qualify.  Students are required to meet with their high school counselor, attend a college orientation session, submit an application to the college and to EHS, and take an assessment test.  Running Start students are subject to the same state, district, and Eastlake Graduation requirements as all other Eastlake students, including the Level 5 Proficiencies and the Culminating Project.  Running Start students will enroll in an EHS Level 5 Support Class to assist them in meeting the Level 5 Proficiencies and the Culminating Project.  Students enrolled in Running Start spring courses will not be given a diploma until an official transcript is received from the community college or school.
