Application Process
When and how can my child apply for the enrollment lottery at EAS?

Keypoints about the Application Process:

  • All Lake Washington School District students entering 6th grade are welcome to apply and must do so in the winter of their 5th grade year.
  • Application is only open to students whose residence is within the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) boundaries.
  • Placement is determined solely by a blind lottery system so that all who apply have an equal chance to attend.
  • Those who are not selected in the lottery process or who are on a variance in the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) will be put on a wait list.
  • Maximum enrollment for the 6th grade class at the Environmental and Adventure School is 33 students.

Mandatory Steps in the Application Process:

  1. Attend the EAS Parent & Student Information Night.  The date for the EAS Parent & Student Information Night will be shown in the Announcement section on the homepage of the EAS website and is typically held during the month of January.  This is the first time that application packets will be available.
  2. Schedule and attend a Student & Parent Guided Visitation of EAS.  Visitations can be scheduled at the EAS Parent & Student Information Night or by calling the EAS office and must be completed prior to the lottery.
  3. Complete all parts of the Application Packet and deliver them to EAS by the application deadline.  The application deadline date will be shown in the Announcement section on the homepage of the EAS website.  The Application Packet includes:
  • Pre-registration Form (includes EAS Student and Family Contract)
  • Student Information Form
  • Parent Statement Form
  • Student Statement Form (to be completed and turned in at visitation)
