Filling and Wrapping
Unit VI focuses on volume and surface area of rectangular prisms

Filling and Wrapping was moved from the seventh grade curriculum to the sixth grade curriculum to meet the Power Standards for sixth grade regarding volume and surface area of rectangular prisms. Students will learn the content in Investigations 1, 2 and 5 during this unit. These investigations focus on volume (filling) and surface area (wrapping) of rectangular prisms. In addition, students are introduced to similarity and scale factors by applying them to three-dimensional figures.

For an in-depth explanation of goals, specific questions to ask your students and examples of core concepts from the unit, go to Filling and Wrapping.
