The seventh grade year of Connected Math is an important year filled with many pre-algebra topics in preparation for the eighth grade. (CMP8 is a rigorous Algebra course that prepares students for Geometry and Advanced Algebra.) The main focus of the year is developing understanding of proportional relationships, including those found in similar figures, and being able to fluently move between equations, tables, and the situation as described in words. Students are also expected to master computation with integers (positive and negative numbers).
Students deepen their knowledge of probability and analyze data, learning to use different measurements of center and spread to compare two data sets. Line and angle relationships and the geometry of transformations are also explored.
Units: For each unit, you will find a link to the parent letter and materials for the unit, which outlines the unit goals and important concepts. Links to other resources for parents are also listed.
