The seventh grade year of Connected Math is an important year filled with many pre-algebra topics in preparation for the eighth grade. (CMP8 is a rigorous Algebra course that prepares students for Geometry and Advanced Algebra.) The main focus of the year is developing an understanding of linear equations and being able to move fluently between equations, tables, graphs, and the situation as described in words. Students are also expected to master computation with integers (positive and negative numbers).
Other topics covered throughout the year are decimal computation, the geometry of similar figures, ratios and proportions, data and statistics, and probability.
Units: CMP 7 is divided into eight consecutive units. For each unit, you will find a link to the parent letter and materials for the unit, which outlines the unit goals and important concepts. Links to other resources for parents are also listed.
