Moving Straight Ahead

Linear relationships

Moving Straight Ahead is the focus of the seventh grade pre-algebra year. Students develop algebra skills by the introduction of linear functions. Students gain further understanding of the concepts taught in Variables and Patterns by learning to recognize linear functions by the constant rate of change whether it is in a situation, table, graph, or equation. Students solve linear equations and learn to write equations for lines. This unit is a foundation for the majority of the eighth grade CMP Algebra.

For an in depth explanation of goals, specific questions to ask your students and examples of core concepts from the unit, go to Moving Straight Ahead.
