Data Distributions
Data collection and statistics

To continue students’ understanding of data collection and statistics that they began in sixth grade, Data Distributions focuses on the following aspects of data investigation:

  • Questioning and surveys: formulating key questions and deciding what data to collect
  • Data collection: deciding how to collect data and collecting it
  • Analyzing data: organizing, representing, summarizing and looking for patterns
  • Interpreting results: predicting, comparing and identifying relationships

For an in-depth explanation of goals, specific questions to ask your students and examples of core concepts from the unit, go to Data Distributions.
