Junior High Quest Acceptance Criteria
 
Screening and assessment requirements for sixth through eighth grade
  program applicants

Application screening criteria
Junior high applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for Quest assessment:

Sixth Grade
Current full-time Quest students
Quest review of student performance
 
All other applicants, including current Quest enrichment pull-out students
November report card data: Language arts 4.0 in all strands
  Social studies 4.0 in all strands
  Science 4.0 in all strands
Fifth grade WASL results: Reading Level 4
  Science Level 4
Seventh Grade
All Quest applicants
November report card data: Language arts B+ or higher
  Social studies B+ or higher
  Science B+ or higher
Sixth grade WASL results: Reading Level 4
Eighth Grade
All Quest applicants
November report card data: Language arts B+ or higher
  Social studies B+ or higher
  Science B+ or higher
Seventh grade WASL results: Reading Level 4
  Writing Level 4

Junior high applicants who meet the application screening criteria are scheduled for Quest assessment.

Assessment criteria
Applicants must meet the following assessment criteria to be considered for placement in the junior high Quest program:

  • Quest elementary full-time students: Quest review of student progress
  • Quest elementary enrichment pull-out students:
    • Round I - ITBS (unless previously tested by Quest within one year at 99%)
    • Round II (if qualified) - CogAT (unless previously tested by Quest within one year at 99%) and Renzulli
  • All other applicants:
    • Round I – ITBS
    • Round II (if qualified) - CogAT and Renzulli
 
Round I Academic Achievement Assessment – Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) Must score at the 95th percentile or above in total reading, total language, social studies and science
Round II Cognitive Ability Assessment – Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) Must score at 93rd percentile or higher, 124 Composite Standard Age Score
  Creativity Assessment – Renzulli Creativity Scale for Rating the Behavioral Must rate 80% or higher on scale (total 43-54)
