Accelerated Programs
Rigorous academics for first through 12th-grade students in 2011-12
The district provides accelerated academic programs for elementary and junior high students, as well as for high school students who desire college-preparatory classes and college credits. In 2012-13 the district will change to a grade configuration of K through five elementary schools, grades six to eight middle schools and grade nine through 12 high schools. The accelerated programs will change to serve elementary students in grades two through five, middle school students in grades six through eight, and high school students in grades 9-12
For elementary and junior high students
Designed to meet the learning styles and needs of highly capable elementary and junior high students who have been selected for the program. Available to students in first through ninth grade who qualify. In 2012-13, the accelerated programs will serve elementary students in grades two through five and middle school students in grades six through eight.
For high school students
Prepares high school students for higher education with college-level curriculum and exams in various subjects. Students can also earn college credits.
For high school students
This rigorous, internationally-renowned academic program is designed to provide students with the skills required to be successful at the college and university level. The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), a program for 9th and 10th graders, is currently offered. The Advanced International Certificate of Education will be offered in future years to 11th and 12th grade students.
For high school students
Allows 11th and 12th graders to take courses at community and technical colleges to receive college-level credits.
Other options such as honors or advanced courses may be offered by a specific junior high or high school. Students interested in other programs should contact their school counseling office for more information.
