Follow these step-by-step instructions by the deadlines if you are interested in having your child enter kindergarten early. This process ensures that the child is ready for kindergarten so they are successful if they do enter early.
Instructions for Kindergarten Early Entrance
2008-2009 |
| 1. Notify your neighborhood school that you are interested in early entrance for your child. You will receive a packet from the Early Entrance Office or you can download the packet here. |
Anytime |
| 2. The principal of your neighborhood school or someone they designate will meet with you and provide information on early entrance. They will answer any questions you may have. At the end of the meeting, if you are interested in continuing the process, you will receive an early entrance application. |
March and April |
| 3. Submit the early entrance application and $75 application fee to Early Entrance Office, LWSD Resource Center, P.O. Box 97039, Redmond, WA 98073-9739. Checks should be made payable to Lake Washington School District. Parents who request a fee reduction will also need to complete a free and reduced lunch application. |
April 18 deadline for spring testing |
| 4. Early Entrance evaluations will be scheduled and completed on either one of two dates; families will receive a letter informing them of the date and time of their student's evaluation. Testing will take place at the LWSD Resource Center, located at 16250 NE 74th Street in Redmond (in Redmond Town Center). |

| 5. Kindergarten Early Entrance results are sent to the school and to parents. If your child qualifies, notify your neighborhood school of your decision regarding early entrance. |
June 13 |
| 6. If you arrive in the district over the summer, there is another opportunity for testing. Fall Early Entrance testing will take place at the LWSD Resource Center. Applications are accepted beginning on August 4.
