FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Redmond, Wash. – WAVE Aquatics took over management of the Juanita High School pool, as part of a cost cutting measure by Lake Washington School District. WAVE Aquatics was chosen as the new management organization following a Request For Proposal (RFP) process last spring.
“We’ve now successfully completed the process we began last spring. It’s a win for community users who can return to the pool and we can put the dollars from the pool operating cost back into classrooms,” noted Deputy Superintendent Janene Fogard.
The new Juanita Aquatic Center schedule and information is now available on the WAVE Aquatics Web site and will be available shortly on the Juanita High School Web site.
Existing 10-visit passes purchased from the school will be honored until September 30. Pool patrons who hold these punch cards are encouraged to use their visits this month.
This move has enabled the school district to eliminate the $150,000 pool operating cost from its budget. The district was faced with cutting $7.7 million after state budget cuts in the last legislative session. If no organization was found to take over pool management, the district was faced with closing the pool.
