Lake Washington School District announces administrative changes for 2012-2013
New elementary, middle school principals
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Redmond, Wash. – The Lake Washington School District (LWSD) announces a number of additional administrative changes for the 2012-2013 school year. A previous announcement about central leadership positions was made in early May.

  • Heather Frazier will become the principal at Sandburg Elementary and Discovery Community School in Kirkland. Heather currently serves as the assistant principal at Rosa Parks Elementary in Redmond. Heather replaces Mark Blomquist, who will move to an associate principal position at Inglewood Middle School. Mark replaces Monica Garcia, who will move to an elementary associate principal position, serving Rosa Parks Elementary and several other large elementary schools on the east side of the district.
  • Jennifer Hodges has been selected to serve as the new principal at Rose Hill Elementary in Kirkland. She replaces Karin Janik, who is retiring. Jennifer is from Seattle Public Schools (SPS) where she has been for 15 years and where she currently serves as assistant principal at Aki Kurose Middle School.
  • Craig Mott has been selected to serve as the new principal at Twain Elementary. Craig currently serves as assistant principal at Kirkland Junior High, where he has been for the past seven years. He replaces Rick Burden, who has been selected as an associate director for Special Education. Rick replaces Jon Holmen, who was previously announced as the new director of school support (DSS) for the Redmond Learning Community.
  • Heidi Paul will become the principal at Bell Elementary in Kirkland. Heidi replaces interim principal Craig Madsen. Heidi has been a language arts teacher at Inglewood Junior High since 2001, and completed her administrative internship at Inglewood during the 2011-2012 school year.
  • Erin Bowser has been selected as the new principal for Rose Hill Middle School and Stella Schola Middle School. Erin replaces Laurynn Evans, who is leaving the district. Erin currently serves as the assistant principal at Rose Hill Junior High and Stella Schola.
  • Sean Cassidy, the current assistant principal at Redmond Junior High, has been selected as the principal at Evergreen Middle School. He replaces Jan Olson, who is retiring.
  • Michael Griffin has been selected to serve as the new associate principal at Rose Hill Middle School and Stella Schola Middle School. Currently, Michael serves as the assistant principal at Lakes High School (Clover Park School District) in Pierce County.
  • Jeff Larson has been selected to serve in the new associate principal position at Redmond High School (RHS). Jeff has been at Redmond High School since 2004, teaching Math and Health, and serving as the head coach for Boys’ Basketball. This year, Jeff supported the administrative team at RHS by serving as a part time athletic director and portfolio coordinator.
  • Steven Thatcher has been selected to serve as the new associate principal at Eastlake High School. Steven currently serves a full-time assistant principal/intern at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

  • Redmond Middle School associate principal
