Timeline update - deadline extended one week
March 21, 2007, Redmond, Wash. – Lake Washington School District’s Board of Directors seeks candidates for its District #2 position. Bob Hughes will leave that position as of April 1, after 29 years of service. The Board announced today a timeline and process for selecting a replacement.
The first step is today’s announcement, including posting criteria and a set of questions on the district’s Web site, www.lwsd.org. Applicants are asked to submit a general statement, two letters of reference, a biographical statement and brief responses to seven questions. The general statement is a 750-word maximum essay on why the applicant wants to serve on the school board and how their experience, training and interest can contribute to effective District governance. All of these materials are due in the superintendent’s office by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18.
The board will hold an executive session on April 23 to review the qualifications of candidates. The board scheduled an open special meeting for April 25 at 5 p.m. to interview candidates. Final selection of the new board member will take place at the regularly scheduled May 7 board meeting. That will enable the board to fill the position within 90 days, as required by law.
