The committee charged with setting new elementary school boundaries on the Sammamish Plateau met last night to review the parent input on the draft boundary scenarios. That input was collected through an open house on January 10 and an online survey.
Results from the survey favored Scenario C, which meets the needs of parents from Camden Park and The Country neighborhoods, both of which were well represented in the parent input. The committee also heard from residents of the Vintage neighborhoods and from Broadmoore Estates, both of which had concerns about all three scenarios.
“Scenario C is the preference of parents who responded,” noted committee chair Dr. Cindy Lundvall. “However, we feel obligated as a committee to see if there is any way we can meet the concerns of these two neighborhoods if, and only if, we can do so in a way that does not affect negatively other neighborhoods that are satisfied with the current scenario.”
The committee will meet again next Thursday, January 24, and plans to present its recommendation to Superintendent Chip Kimball that day. The goal is to announce the boundary proposal by February 1.
