Registration of Voters

Each school within the Lake Washington School District shall have at least one staff member designated as an official voter registrar. These individuals shall provide voter registration services to the general public during all regular school hours. In addition, local schools shall make a concerted effort to encourage voter registration and to provide special registration services when appropriate.

All school secretaries and principals shall be instructed in their part of the registration program prior to the opening of school. All students new to the school district shall be given information regarding the voter registration service available at the local school facility. At the senior high school level students approaching 18 years of age shall be informed of the registration procedure and encouraged to register to vote.

PTSA Program

The school district shall cooperate wherever possible with the PTSA voter registration program. Schools shall be encouraged to cooperate with the PTSA registration chairman on the identifying and registration of non- registered voters within the school boundaries.

Regular announcements regarding the voter registration program shall appear in the principal's newsletter and/or the PTSA bulletin of each school.
