Through cooperation with parents, strict regulations in regard to tardiness
and unexcused absence, and diligence in investigating the causes of absence,
the board shall endeavor to reduce truancy.
The district attendance officer shall be responsible for enforcing the
compulsory attendance laws which require regular attendance, provide for
penalties if parents and guardians do not carry out their responsibilities,
and establish procedures for referral of a truant student to juvenile authorities.
