Student Withdrawal from School

File: JECE

A student withdrawing from school must bring a note from his/her parents to the attendance office and get a withdrawal slip. Each teacher must sign the withdrawal slip, indicating that books and materials have been returned or otherwise accounted for. The student is properly withdrawn only after this procedure is completed; however, the school may not refuse to forward students records for reasons of improper withdrawal.

In those cases where the building principal or designee does not receive written notice of withdrawal intention; where telephone communication cannot be established to verify the fact of withdrawal; and the building principal has sufficient reason to believe a student has in fact withdrawn, the student may be dropped after 10 consecutive days of absence.

In those circumstances where the student has been dropped, the school shall forward records upon request as if the student had been formally withdrawn.
