It is the policy of the Lake Washington School District, to the extent authorized by Washington State Law, to provide reasonable school health services to all students. Nursing procedures will be made available:

  1. if authorized by state law and
  2. if such procedures can be done reasonably within the regular duties of the school health specialist job description.

School District procedures for the delegation of nursing care shall be in accordance with Washington State law. Whether or not a procedure can be reasonably provided shall be determined by the Superintendent or designee. The procedure for providing for catheterization of students is set forth in RCW 18.88.295 and WAC 308-120-620 as now or hereafter amended. Procedures for accommodating students with diabetes are set forth in procedure JHC-R.

This policy shall not be construed as the delegation of authority to establish school-based health clinics.
