The Board of Directors shall name each new elementary school from a list of names and short biographies of deceased persons famous for their work in science, the humanities, letters, or education.

The board shall name each new secondary school according to the neighborhood or district in which it is located, or by selecting the name of a person or place related to local, area, or Pacific Northwest history.

In keeping with the district's policy of inclusion and recognition of minorities, at least one out of every three new elementary schools constructed in the Lake Washington School District shall be named for a minority group member.
