Superintendent's Message

Fall 2007

There can be nothing more important, challenging, or rewarding than contributing to the development and growth of a child. Too often we take for granted the investment required by parents, teachers, friends and community members to help our children reach their full potential. Today’s students will be faced with an increasingly competitive, complex, and technologically advanced future. In Lake Washington, we are committed to ensuring that each and every one of our students will be able to participate successfully in that future.

As your superintendent, I have thought extensively about what I want our students to experience in our schools. Every student who walks through our doors should find a place where they belong and can be successful. To achieve this goal, every student must be connected to their school through at least one adult who they feel values them. They must also feel challenged to perform and grow. Through this personal connection, sense of value, and challenge, our students will be able to fulfill their potential and accomplish remarkable things.

The education of a child is challenging and rewarding work. The faculty and staff in Lake Washington are committed to creating a place for your child where they belong and are challenged. We cannot do it alone, however. The most effective education for a student requires cooperation between teachers and staff, students, parents, and the larger community. We are fortunate to live in a community with tremendous support and parental involvement, and are grateful for your continued involvement in your student’s education. With this support, our students will have an educational experience where they grow emotionally, develop academically, and prepare for the challenges and opportunities of this still-new century. With that hope and expectation, I look forward to our work together as we create a place for your child.

Sincerely,

Dr. Chip Kimball
Superintendent
